Paddy O’Connell and Nicki French
Hardly strangers to the UKeurovision parties, Paddy did an incredible job of whipping up the crowd at last year’s Preview Party, and Nicki French powered her way through seven dresses when hosting the Winners’ Party last year. This year, we decided that there would be no better Eurovision Dream Team to host this event than paring to gargantuan names in British Eurovision promotion together.
Paddy is the long time commentator for the BBC’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest semi finals. He has entertained millions as the host of the show for the last five years and stops off at the preview Party on the way to Moscow. A great Eurovision fan, and much loved by the fans, we’re looking forward to a fun night with Paddy. We’re also looking forward to seeing what mayhem he’ll cause this time after grabbing the Ukrainian backing singers’ shirts and lobbing them into the audience last year. The result – Ani Lorak frantically shopping at heathrow for two skin-tight black mens’ shirts for their performance in Belgium a day later!
Nicki's chart success started in 1994 with her dance version of "Total eclipse of the heart". By 1995 the song had sold over five million copies peaking at number 2 on the USA Billboard top 100 and becoming a worldwide hit. Several follow ups and an album "Secrets" was produced by Mike Stock of SAW fame. 1997 saw a new album "French Revolution" which demonstrates Nicki's song writing abilities. A further worldwide hit single "Te Amo" was released and saw Nicki going top 5 in Brazil! The year 2000 was a great year for Nicki, being chosen by the British public to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest! Although only coming 16th (which is a really good placing these days!), Nicki has fond memories of the experience and would like another shot at it but with a big power ballad!
She was an amazing host at the UK Eurovision Winners’ Party last year, in true Eurovision style, she managed to change dresses between each act, as well as doing her own Eurovision medley. Nicki can’t wait to join up with Paddy for a great night’s entertainment. They will put the true spirit of Eurovision into the second annual UKeurovision Preview Party.
